Amen Tabernacle, chain starts: WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR

As a body riddled with bullets bleeds out, Johannesburg’s Amen Tabernacle loses a few limbs. A good handful of members among its irreducible supporters, including two6 administrators, have confirmed that they left the church following the audio scandal.

Audiogates, one scandal too many?

It all started towards the end of November 2021 when audios containing the voice of Pastor Papy Zakola seeming to make advances to a young sister from his Kinshasa church leaked on the net. Called to explain himself on our media in the Big Interview show, the reverend had denied any unhealthy intention towards his sheep and accused his detractors of having doctored his voice in order to harm him.

Returning Tuesday, December 6 to South Africa for the first time since the outbreak of the affair, the one called Doctor Phoenix tried to reassure his assembly during the prayer meeting held the next day that there was not a matter for debate, informed us a witness.

These explanations seem not to have convinced some sheep who expected, as they indicated to Gospelcross.net, the acknowledgment of the facts and sincere apologies.

This scandal is reminiscent of that of 2009 which saw this church experience a strong and long period of turbulence with several departures resulting in countless difficulties, particularly those related to the ownership of the church plot.

How far is this case? No one could predict that.
